Birth Control Pills - Information on Brevinor, Binovum and Loestrin
Brevinor is a combination pill, which has been proven to be almost 100% effective. It consists of ethinylestradiol (artificial oestrogen) and norethisterone (artificial progestogen) as its active ingredients. This pill is most effective if taken on the very first day of your periods. You are required to take this pill for 21 days of your periods, and during the 7 day break, you are likely to have your periods. This pill is a monophasic pill and minimize the risks of suffering from mood swings as a side effect. Women who are 18 years old can take this pill safely.
BiNovum is also a combination pill, but is a bi-phasic pill, and has been proven to be almost 100% effective. It consists of ethinylestradiol (artificial oestrogen) and norethisterone (artificial progestogen) as its active ingredient. This pill contains the same ingredient as that of Loestrin but the norethisterone quantity present in Binovum is less than the that. Some of the side effects of this pill include headaches and tender breasts. This pill helps in reducing the side effects such as bleeding, spotting and missed periods.
Loestrin is another combination pill, which is available in the dosage strengths of 20 mg and 30 mg. The active ingredients present in this pill are ethinylestradiol (oestrogen) and norethisterone (progestogen). This pill helps you regulate your periods and for those women who struggle with long and painful periods. Some of the side effects of Loestrin are headaches, nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, changes in weight, water retention, vaginal thrush and changes in menstrual bleeding.
